Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Hi Everyone,

Just had the following warning lights come on, on my dash board over the Xmas & New Year period as listed below:-

1. Rear Reversing Light not working - Please advise if I need to replace 1x or 2x Reverse Lights as I'm unsure if like the Fog Lights, I only have one light or two for reversing since my previous vehicles always had two ?

2. Washer Fluid Level Low - Please advise if special coloured washer fluid required & can this be purchased from Halfords or do I need alternative car shop that specialises in Saab Lubricants & if so please advise ?

3. Coolant Level Low - Please advise if special coolant level required & can this again be purchased from Halfords or do I need alternative car shop that specialises in Saab Lubricants & if so please advise ?

4. Oil - Not yet required but I thought I would ask what is best Oil to purchase and get prepared for this if needed in the future and again can I go to Halfords or does it require specialist car shop ?

Fyi - I am located in Middlesex ( near Heathrow Airport).

Once again, any help, advice or guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated and received.

Thanks !

Hi, no idea regarding the reversing lights as I don't have one.
Washer fluid can be any brand/colour you fancy. Just buy ready mixed or concentrate and dilute yourself to suit the weather conditions.
Coolant should be OAT type, normally a pink colour, Halfords, ECP or others is OK provided it is that type. It should not be mixed with the older blue glycol type.
Oil - must be fully synthetic, GM Dexos 2 5W/30 or equal. Halfords have a good offer on at the moment http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine ... ic-oil--4l

Pretty sure there are two reversing bulbs.

Strange for them both to not be working though.

Oil has to conform to GM-LL-B-025. So only buy oil that has that stated on the bottle.

I was thinking the same regards both bulbs being out . You should have
Two when they are working . Could be the reverse switch at fault..

I believe it should GM Dexos 2 0W-40 for the TTid engine.

Correct. But I've just checked the invoice from the last service carried out before we bought the car and they've used Titan 5W-30!

Not happy.

Correct and the only dexos2 oil's I've found have been:

Saab/GM's own TTid oil 0W40
and
Mobil 1 ESP 0W40

You can now get a better oil filter cap with a hex on the end, so I may fit tht at the next change.
