Just spent a bit more time over the last few days working on the car & thought I'd best start a thread rather than just popping odd bits on.
Now I'm back in the UK & have a different job I'm finally getting time to get the car done as well as all the other bits that need to be.
I've had it for nearly 2 years & have been collecting bits & now am finally starting to fit them.
Todays bits - Illuminated seat belt buckles - wired into the twice unit so go off when buckled / only illuminate when someone in seat.
Massage seat fitted - there was no way to secure it soundly from behind as the panel flexes slightly - I need to just flat off the screw heads & paint to match the seat base.
The massage motors are all sunk into the seat foam so nothing visible at all - the buttons work all the different patterns & speeds etc

Looking at the seat surround again and knowing they come off.
I think it would look the dogs if it was "dipped" in carbon fibre (you know we're they float a transfer sheet in a solution, dip the part in and the sheet forms around the part).

Hi Ledster
I looked into that for a few other bits in a different finish but the cost wasn't worth it so some vinyl wrap for those bits.
I've got a plan to do it differently at a later date & make sure the mountings are from behind so not visible - just need another pair of seats for that bit ! - the little holes below are leds that show what it's doing - gave it a wipe over with finesse revive today & looks fine with no marks.

Well today I finally gave in & attacked the back arch !
When I bought this I spent ages finding one without rotten arches & mine was fine.
Dinitrol'd all the cavities etc not long after getting it then a few weeks later a rust spot appeared on the arch about the size of a 5p !!
Today whilst waiting for paint to dry & as it was nice attacked it with the dremel - have been putting it off for over a year as it's in the area where the inner & outer wheelarch meet so was expecting rot from the inside somewhere.
Ground it all out to bare metal - no rot from the inside - the only thing I could see was a slight depression in the wheel arch about the size of a pencil tip - maybe there from the factory & filled in before paint - there was no filler around it ?
De-ox'd, fillered & high build primer - then a few coats of silver hammerite to weather proof it - will leave it for a month now to fully harden then flat it back & proper colour & clear coat. From 2 foot away it's obvious it's a repair but far better than the rust spot growing !

Whilst waiting for the filler & primer etc finally fitted the sub amp that's been sat in the house for a year !
No apologies for the fitting ! - Tiger sealed to the back of the main amp - I've had a different one silicone'd in the same place for a year - it's the only way they'll fit in the space I want them to go- Will look clearer when I fit them back in place.
Fitted the power distribution blocks while I was there - not after a heavy duty set up - just a lot better than it was.
All the gears in now - just tidying up needed - JVC head unit & amps, Helix, Polk & Alpine digital speakers.

Reverse camera moulded into rear light to mirror boot key

Stereo - originally a single din conversion with extra gauges - when I finally got to fit the gauges the stereo died !
Bit the bullet & went for double din - the sid cage I welded to the top of the radio cage so it's all rock solid
Just after the correct Bluetooth adaptor & I'll be happy - ipod mounted in ski hatch, DAB & memory stick full of music vids in the glovebox

LED's for the vanity lights - massive difference & well worth doing

95 sunvisors fitted
These don't just fit in - the secondary visors had to be cut down / reshaped & recovered to clear the mirror ( Mondeo dimming )
& the large visor is the original convertible one as this pulls them up tighter to the roof

Well today I finally fitted the exhaust - powerflow twin exit.
I wasn't too happy with the mounting brackets as standard so made my own up out of 8mm rod & fitted 2 for each silencer box.
The rear bumper that's on at the moment has just been cut as it's being replaced at a later date with one that's been altered & will also have slightly different exhaust exits recessed into it.
what can't be seen are the maptun lowering springs, PFS 22mm rear anti roll bar, Koni adjustables, goodridge hoses. Also rebuilt the rear calipers & fitted new discs & handbrake shoes.
All that's left is to fit the rear beam polybushes that are sat on the side & the backs nearly done !
Making progress of sorts & there's less car parts in the utility room.
Kind Regards.
Peter.

Hi all again.
After not touching my car for most of last year & growing tired of silver, I've been looking for ages for another car & couldn't find anything that I actually wanted at all except - another Saab.
So - I now own this one.
Very lucky as have got the use of an old ramp/workshop at work but can only work on it every Saturday - It doesn't have to come off the ramp which is a massive bonus as I don't have to keep it mobile.
Currently on the ramp awaiting the usual bulkhead repair - The pedals move about so I'm taking it as cracked - The servo etc is all stripped out - I can't see any crack but just stripped it out as I'm Billy no mates in there so no one to move the wheel whilst I'm looking - will be back on it next Saturday to carry on digging out the seam sealer to see if it's underneath.
Whilst it's all dug out I'll fit the repair kit anyway & look at some extra bracing.
Most of the bits on the sliver one will transfer to the new one over the coming weeks along with some of the other intended bits finally making their way onto the car along with all the recent additions that are currently piled inside it at the Mo !
Update next week !

Thought I'd best update this as I go !
a little bit behind schedule - was hoping to be well along by now but the rust has got it
Decided to remove wheel arch liners, bumpers etc & give the arches & all of the hidden bits a good clean - bit of surface rust under the near side front, not a problem & expected - de-ox'd & now in zinc 182 paint
Then did the offside front - a little bit worse - small hole so cut back to clean metal & welded in a new piece - now also in zinc 182
Image
The got to the rear - the near side's perfect - the offside I've no idea what's gone on - the worst rust I've seen for a while & very localized - now all chopped out ready for new metal
Image
Dropping the fuel tank also revealed where someone's changed the fuel pump without removing the tank - another job

All the surface rust patches have been de-ox'd & zinc'd now - hoping to have the rear arch welded, & all ready for top coat in the week
On a positive note - the bulkhead wasn't cracked at all - now reinforced, all painted & polybushed & rack brace fitted.

This is how it got leImageft last week !

Will keep on going :park:
Peter.

Check the sills near the jacking points, that's where mine rusted.

Well
Just to keep me going more than anything !
Went in this weekend
Welded up the rear arch inside & out, all welds tidied & seam sealed, now in zinc 182, fronts stone chipped - painted on a coat of brush on smoothrite as the reds near enough a perfect match ( for under the arches anyway ) & it was that cold, after 3 hours it still hadn't dried :(
Will give it a coat of spray smoothrite this weekend, paint the back one if it's warmer & start refitting.
Whilst all the interior was out jet-washed the carpet - which then turned grey ( I think it had been sprayed or something ) so once it had dried out gave it a few coats of proper dye sprayed on & brushed right in which looks to have turned out really well.
Image
Also tidied up the hole that was cut for the fuel pump & welded back in the piece cut out for the inspection hole.
Image
I'll finish that off this weekend & start refitting hopefully.
As the interiors all out
Image
I'll start to run all of the stereo cables, various pipes & other bits needed - I'll add pics when this is going on
Also got 2 huge packs of silent coat, dodo foam & other such sound deadening, insulation etc to squeeze in somewhere:D

No pics this weekend as cold & didn't seem to really get anywhere !
Hopefully a better update after this weekend
Peter

It's an unused workshop at the moment - And is so much nicer than working on the drive, I don't have the luxury of a heated workshop at home ( Well I do - but that's full of bikes in bits :D )
I wasn't going to take the side skirts off - but having seen Geoff's pics - That's to be done on the next few weeks - when I was cleaning up the boot I found another small patch right at the bottom - still can't believe how bad it is in one area ! Just hoping it hasn't started under the skirt
My fault for wanting a red one ! - Did go and look at a grey one - 200 mile drive and it was nowhere near as nice as it looked in the pictures so walked away
This one looked immaculate around the body & arches & nice price so bought it & it was all going so well until I hot washed under the arches :(
Once it's all welded - Dinitrol all the cavities & it should last me a good few years
Thanks for the encouragement :D
