Fairly sure they will be the on circuit photographer as we didn't go up to any of those areas - that I know of.

Update, i melted the tyres good and proper the other day :D
Image

And yesterday i decided to rip it apart and see what i'm up against, when i was at brands it was only running 1.1 bar in the afternoon, i know the turbo dropping and manifold cracking would effect it but not that badly, after pulling the rad out i knew why.
Split the intercooler good and proper, looks like i'm gunna get the tig out again :D

Sneaky turbo shot 8)

Then i set about pulling the turbo and manifold off, which i managed to do, and as i thought, i blew the t25 gasket out and lost one of the bolts and collector is cracked.

Gunna whip the front discs off today and if i can be bothered (as now is the time), change the rusty front panel with the replacement phil gave me

Sounds familiar....although mine cracked in the centre of the collector. At least you can mend yours yourself!

Looks very nice, should last a few years longer now, I'd have welded in a wee support from flange to wastegate take off, just a wee web might stop it happening again..

It did cross my mind, but I am tempted to sell it and buy one off Tim, but then in the long term I'd like to change the wastegate to v band and the manifold to t4 divided, but then that means a new turbo and more money, I'm having a think at the mo, got a few bits up for sale and it depends what sells.

rather than a small web on the manifold (which admittedly wouldn't hurt) I'd be looking at a nice beefy turbo support bracket - with some lateral as well as vertical bracing.

Hi

In the picture of the tyre wear after the track day, there seems to be more rubber that has moved from the inside of the tyre to the middle....is this just because that's where the forces move it to and therefore the rubber from the outer half of the tyre just rolls off the edge?

Cheers

Rob

Brands Hatch is almost all right handers so it pushes all the rubber off to one side unlike other tracks with a better mix of corners.

A little update
More pics from the trackday, waiting in the garage with the saab and my mx5 whch has now sadly gone and sold
Image
Image

I don't think i will have issues with the turbo bolts coming out anymore as i have redrilled it to m10 toyota studs and toyota m10 shallow nuts
Image
Image

Engine now back together and looking good, i also wrapped the intake pie, delivery pipe and downpipe in dei titanium heatwrap
Image

Also the front disc's where ruined and where massively warped, massive thanks to mrd2525 for tipping me off about reyland motorsport, hit them you and they sent me some 330x28mm j hook disc's for £275 for the pair plus the new bolts, top service from them and very good pricing, i also refurbed the bells at the same time by shot blasting and painting them

I always struggled to get to use slicks without a roll cage (so much so that I binned them!)

So I've now got it on the road and loving it, I've given the headlights a bit of a rebuild as they where worse than candles in jam jars, they are now as good as candles in jam jars and the alignment is off and all the chrome as fallen off the reflectors, but hey it works at the mo.

And also popped to my local Saab dealership as I needed to grab a few bits for my van so had to take the Saab :D
Image

Also did the scrap run in it, and while I was there I got it weighed, it weighs 1260kg which isn't bad.
Image

And today took it down to a local dyno day
I didn't tell anyone what it was and just gave them the keys as I wanted to add the element of surprise, it worked, first run it just span but still did 430hp and everyone went mad as it was at the end of the day and the most powerful thing straight away, fitted the traction bar to the front and got some grip, closed the plugs up as it was missfireing on load and after that did 462hp and 490ftlbs (664nm) of torque, which was amazing, probably going to turn the torque down and smooth it out a little to save the box a little but yes what an awesome day.

And a vid of it spinning up on the first run, didn't get anymore good vids

Great to see it's running well - The boost is kept quite well in check in the midrange so I do wonder whether the long runners on the big intake manifold as giving it an extra push where we don't really need it? I also think you might have hit a touch of knock just up at the top end. On the manifold, hard to tell without going through the fiddly process of swapping it out between dynos.

Excellent!
Glad to see it running so well.
That's a lot of torque!

Always nice to be a Q car and suprise on the dyno.

We did that at North Allerton years ago with some Vauxhall VXR kiddies, kicking out a disappointing 435

'What about those old guys with the saabs- they were awesome!!'

Didn't tell them mine was running rough as....
And had just blown a turbo......
