So, I'm hoping to get on the South Wales dyno session in a few weeks and have a dilemma about the tyres on my car.

Currently I have winters on which I am assuming would be a no-no due to the nature of the tread.

My summer tyres (conti sportcontact) are marginal for legal tread-depth but am wondering if these would be better on rollers than turning up with brand new summer tyres with the full 7mm tread depth thinking that the extra tread height would generate excess heat?

I've heard that rollers can give tyres a hard time so would rather not ruin a new set of summers.

I'd guess I'd just pop he two most legal tyres on the fronts, leave winters on the back and take a very gentrle trip down to Bridgend and then change back to winters when its all over. Its basically all M4 all the way.

Any suggestions / comments.

Your worn summer tyres will be fine :D Just make sure the tyre pressures are o.k & matching.

Thanks Both!

Yes, the RS3 are vary good value even on a 235/45.

I'm hoping to get the winters through to late spring to finish them off (4 years old) and am hankering after some 18's if the right ones come up so dont really want to get any 17's just now.

Mine came in at 334bhp with winter tyres on when I took it over to a chap in Leeds earlier this year. He reckoned the reading was off by probably 15 bhp because the winter tyres get too hot on the rollers.

I'll post a picture of the dyno graph when I can find it.
