I finally worked out the eject function on the sat nav in the car, cool motorised face out feature, and found it has the 2007 dated disc in.

I've found this:

http://www.satnavdiscsale.com/saab-93-denso-sat-nav-update-dvd-2011-2012-405-p.asp

Would it work?

I think the unit in my car is a Grundig/Delphi make, but the disc is advertised as a "Denso" disk. Same looking head unit as mine though?
Would like to upgrade rather than having the faff off a Tom Tom or phone stuck elsewhere. And to be fair to the unit, apart from the 1990s Cartoon Network style graphics, it has been decent so far! Warns me of traffic ahead and re-routes etc.

PITA not having a postcode feature, but easy enough to add a destination.

The 9-3 does not have a Denso system, so it won't work. :)

I have tried copying the disc but it doesn't work. It seems to at first, but then the screen freezes and you cannot open the front to get the disc out....

The best I can offer is to look at Lexus/Toyota discs which might work. The disc you have is an AW system. If you look at the edge of the disc you will see an AW part number. These numbers are very similar to the ones on the Lexus update website.

I've been trying to find a Toyota/Lexus disc to try. Still not cheap.

Damn, was hoping £39 would have sorted it for me!

Interested in what you are doing to try and update yours, assume this is the unit you have in the good ladies 9-3TX?

Yes. The disc is © 2008. The car is 2010...

I'm assuming as the 9-3 was stopped in 2011 (?) the update discs stopped around 2008. As the system was a generic GM (?) based unit I would have hoped that there would have been far more choice, well any choice, in the update market. Obviously a niche market that isn't worth the outlay.
However, the 9-3 Vector Sport I had (2003 model) had the ICM3 unit, and you can buy updates for those still........odd......

Pulled the disc out, has a 2007 date for the Saab version P/N 12779159 and a 2006 copyright date for the NAVTEQ.

The other reference is AISIN AW CO LTD Japan 86271-60W290.

Does this match up with your 2008 version?

Thanks. Two digits out from mine, must be related to the year etc.

Interesting thread on here:

http://www.saabscene.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-215970.html?s=82ebc36c498a66716c34b918fc5c0b27

And of course your previous input:

http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/UKS/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=140394

Doesn't sound like there is a way of dating these yet?

There's a guy in The Netherlands who sells updated Navi DVD's (2015-2016) for the Grundig-Delphi Navi.
I bought West Europe and Central Europe and they work, there are a few cons like:

POI's can't be shown on the maps
Zoom function 300, 1KM & 3KM doesn't show any data on screen
Voice guidence is not working properly... "Exit right towards city name" isn't working that great

Despite these con I really love the new updated DVD's

Hope this helps...

Quick search and I found this website:

http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/auto-onderdelen/overige-onderdelen/m945337114-saab-9-3-navigatie-dvds-2011-oost-en-west-europa.html?c=a2384ef0ece270f44503df9f8598c624&previousPage=lr

Have translated the text on the ad and it reads:

"description

Only suitable for the Delphi Grundig system in the Saab 9-3 after 2006 ( see photos) . Part no. 12825513
Fully 100 % working functions. This is the last Saab officially released update. A newer version will unfortunately never appear .

Western Europe DVD € 22.50
Eastern Europe DVD € 22.50
Both Eastern and Western Europe as a set of DVD's € 35 -

Free shipping

Email for more info."

Wonder if this is worth a punt? 2011 rather than the 2006 disc in my car?

Thanks for the link.
Says that it is for the Kenwood based systems in the 9-5, not the ones we have in the 9-3?

The last sentence in the ad translated: also for Saab 9-3 2007-2011 a new 2014-2015 Central Europe version... And so on...

As mentioned before, I have the Central Europe and West Europe 2014-2015 ( sorry not 2015-2016 ) in my MY09 9-3 with Grundig Delphi satnav and they are working fine. This summer I used it on my vacation in Spain.
Just shoot him a email if you are interested.

AeroXWD I don't suppose you have the direct email you could PM me?

Sorry to be a pain, but I can't find the email address of this seller anywhere on the web link. I have clicked on the "email" icon at the bottom of the ad, and it pops up with an email using my mail account, but the address is blank.

Really do want to try this updated DVD, my new route to work is full of fun and games!

Much appreciated in advance.
