I have the 7 speaker system and the rears are not filtered. I took my feed from these.

I disagree. The rear feeds are DEFINITELY filtered.

Strange how some are and some are not filtered. Relatively easy to find out if yours are

I did. No low end from them at all.

No idea. Worst car I've ever worked on audio wise. I've run cable to the rear today from AMP1, so tomorrow I'll be hooking up the Audison Bit Ten with a full range signal. Going to install a nice simple 2 way up front and sub rear system. Not bothering with rear speakers as I never sit in the back.

The amp 1 has filtered high's if i'm not wrong as the speaker is for the mid's/low's only, ok for running a sub but I don't think you'd get full range.

And on 9-3sport wagon's the rears are definitely capped and no low's.

Yes, that's why I've taken the feed from it. The Audison DSP will sum the rear high pass and the low pass from AMP1 to create a full range signal. It'll then DE-EQ it. From there I can use the software it comes with to set up the active crossovers for the 2 ways and the sub. High end sound, factory looks.

Bit Ten installed, feeding into a Genesis amp. It's ridiculously good! I'm running the JL VR690s and the C2-350s in the dash at the minute, but improvement is nothing short of miraculous. A bit of PITA running the cables from AMP1, but sooooo worth it. The front end will be changed for some Audison Prima in the doors next week (when they arrive) and then I'll try the sub instead of the 6x9s.

Well worth the cash and HIGHLY recommended.

Sorry to add more to this thread. One question only. Are the speakers in the 4 speaker set up 2 or 4 ohm, as that seems to be the most confusing point for me.

Thank you

4 ohm. Only the front door 6.5" speakers are 2 ohm as standard. These can be changed to 4 worth no ill effects if upgrading.

Thanks Dan. One assumes then that it is sensible to put 6x9's in the rear shelf and 3.5" in the front, and then 6.5 bass drivers in the doors?

That should give a reasonably well rounded sound yes. Are all the necessary amps in place already?

Though I will scoff a little at the use of words 6.5 and bass together

Being the 4 speaker set up I didnt think it used amps? Going on the (mis?)information on this thread it appeared that running 6.5" drivers in the doors with 3.5" in the dash and 6x9" in the rear was ok?

Definitely, nothing that small can produce proper bass lol

You're forgiven lol.

Nah, thanks for the info, appreciate it. I'll have to get some speakers ordered. Then work out why my FM reception is so poor

I don't want to go mad spending too much cash on the speakers. Would jvc 6x9's be ok?

Would MACaudio be any good for the dash?

I am thinking of buying these speakers to replace the dash ones. Because i'm not sure if they'll fit, I'll buy 2 and worse case scenario i replace the rear shelf ones. If they fit and work good I'll eventually buy 2 more to replace all the 4" speakers. I just finished upgrading my audio yesterday, added the OEM amp1 and amp2 to my 2005 linear with 4 speaker system.
