That would really top your year off :D

Get your votes in chaps

Wow, hadn't factored this in :D

Please vote for me, not only do I get a refit of my garage and all the tools but it also lifts the profile and value of older Saab's, win/win for us 8)

Well you can count on my vote Chris, that's got to be worth one of your old spanners if you win :D

Next months edition of Practical Classics dropped onto the doormat yesterday, so a second vote will be in the post on Monday

Thanks Mal :D

I received an email during the week from Practical Classics explaining that the via the post will choose the final 9 cars for the restoration show but the wild card vote to select the 10th car may be via an online vote, not finalised yet but I'm all for an online vote by the classic community

And now it's gone to an online vote as well :D

Hello All

As most of you are aware my 900 T16S restoration viewtopic.php?f=47&t=45875 was featured in Practical Classics Magazine last year.

As it was a readers restoration feature in the magazine it's been entered into a competition for me to win the coveted Practical Classics Restorer of the year award with a prize of £2200 worth of garage equipment.

There are 25 entries and the final 10 will be displayed at the NEC show where visitors will choose the overall winner.

To be in with a shout I need your votes :P

Voting is now online, please follow the link and click on the coupon to place your vote :D

Hello all,

Practical Classics called me today to let me the good news that I’ve made it to the final 10 for the Practical Classics Restorer of the Year with the Saab 900 T16S :D

It had the majority vote from the web ‘wild card’ vote but it wasn’t needed as it also won the postal vote from the magazine

To say that I am chuffed is a massive understatement, It’s just wonderful that amongst all of the traditional classic’s the youngest car and therefore the ‘underdog’ in my opinion has done so well. It shows that times are changing and cars from the 1980’s are becoming very desirable to classic car enthusiasts. It also shows the Saab 900 has now properly gained classic status.

Thank you all for your votes and support, next stop the NEC 8)

Show details and website http://www.necrestorationshow.com

Hope to see some of you there!!!

Chris

Well we're nearly there, The National Restoration Show at the NEC and the coveted Restorer of the Year finals is upon us

Having not touched the car since bringing it home from the NEC Classic Motor Show in November it needed some attention, mainly a damn good clean as it was torrential rain all the way home from the show. I did dry the car as best as I could before laying it up but the engine bay, wheel arches and underside were filthy. So a thorough clean was in order so up in the air and onto axle stands it was.

Whilst in the air I've partially stripped the callipers, reset the front callipers and hand brake. The front handbrake wasn't working too well at the last the MOT so it would almost certainly have failed at the next MOT. It's now working really well with everything cleaned and greased.

After lots of cleaning, inside, outside and underneath as of tonight the car is ready for the show 8)

I'm in work tomorrow so aiming to leave Friday morning 6.30am for the NEC as display vehicles have to be onsite between 9.00-10.00am. Apparently the road works are a nightmare on the M5 so this should give me plenty of time to get there.

I am starting to think the offer by PC of transporting it would have been a good idea, bit of a worry driving it in all that rush hour traffic to such an important event. Oh well, It is a 'Practical Classic' car and not a trailer queen.

Here's some rubbish pictures of it in my garage tonight, packed and ready to go.

Next one's will be lined up with the rest the of the finalists
