Hi,
I thought I'd replied to a post however later I'd noticed that my reply wasn't posted.
So I resent my message.... it's then I noticed a message above the post sent message stating that my message would have to be looked at by a moderator before it's posted.
Have I never seen this message before or am I on the naughty step?

Steve.

As far as I am aware the only posts that have to be approved are for new members or for the classified sections. Were you responding to an advert?

I posted this morning in 'Pre GM cars for sale and initially it went up on board successfully. Realized I needed to do small edit to it but was emailed by moderator to say post refused possibly because waiting approval of previous post. The post has now 'gone missing' completely. Can a moderator please help.

The first 5 posts of a new user or posts in the classifieds have to be approved to help combat spam. Your post was approved, but you had posted it twice, hence the disapproval for the second one, but your original post went live. When you edited the original post, it goes back into the awaiting moderation queue for approval again. I have now approved the edited post and it is live. If you add a second post rather than edit the original, the original post will stay on the site and the second will be added when approved.

Hope that makes sense

Just post your add in the relevant section of the Forum Classifieds.

As long as it is posted inline with the Forum Rules displayed at the top of each section it will be approved.

What's the result of proactively moderating classifieds posts so far, apart from a lot of work for the mods perhaps?

Its cut out the irrelevant chatter within the classifieds.
That in itself has saved us work in cleaning up threads when asked.

Plus ads now state a price, location and a relevant description within the title or within the content of the first post.

Thanks for the reply and happy to hear it saves you work. However, I prefer "irrelevant" chatter to delays, but that's me of course. And to be honest, at least half the content of the forum consists of irrelevant chatter, which equals about half of the fun of using a forum like this if you ask me.

Your right most of the forum content is irrelevant chatter, so there is plenty of scope for it outside of the classifieds.
As you say you may not mind it in your sales threads but others do.
Chatter can quite often be derogatory with regards to the item offered or the prices asked.

With regards delays, you may occasionally get a delay of an hour or two maybe more some days for a post to be approved.
But then there are other sales media that have the same delays and you have to pay for some of those.

If its just a message to a seller or potential buyer why not pm, there are no delays with those other than the delay in the recipient reading it.
