Must be an aftermarket radio. 9-5 radios are married to the car in the factory. It is possible to swap Saab radios between 9-5's.

If you know some details and have a Tech2 computer..

Never heard of a Saab 9-5 radio losing it's code. Take some pics of yours. Peeps might be able to help!

Agreed. If it's a Saab radio, it will work in your car at any time. It won't work in any other car unless it's "married" by a specialist.

If you can't get it going. Something's broken.

I had my radio out of my old saloon car for about three weeks with no problem. Also a 2002 9-5.

See what the message is and report back. I seem to remember something about the CD changer (if you have one) throwing some sort of spanner into the works somewhere.

Hmmm! Yes, although I think it's the lack of the boot mounted CD changer that can cause a problem. If the cable is installed in the factory, the end can dangle down and get wet and confuse things. Later cars had the cable ends tied up out of the way. Worth a look behind the trim, right at the back, left side of boot.

Two connectors...

Does the radio do anything at all? Any internal lights? The message will be in the SID display above the radio. If the radio is not responding, you may have a blown fuse. There are two in the fusebox in the end of the dashboard - driver's side. But there is also another that is internal to the radio itself.

In the fusebox no. 9 & 21.

I can get you access to Tech2 in Aveley, pretty much any weekend and some weekdays.
I don't know if you'll need a car pass or anything though - I'm new to saabs but am well used to the VX equivalent.

Hi sgould,
Where is the internal fuse, I have the radio, CD player out and can't see anything obvious? My CD player takes a cd in and ejects so I am guessing it is just the radio inop. 07 plate updated version so green screen at top with one knob each side, then cd slot below and radio below that with big on off button central.
Thanks
