This isn't an insomnia post, it's a quiet period during my Friday Night shift.
Earlier tonight I was pondering where in the world you (or I) could get the most for my money should I give up toiling and try and live off my pension income. Discounting places like Costa Rica because I couldn't drive there I focused on mainland Europe. Various places which seem interesting came up, Portugal being one I hadn't thought about as being cheaper than the UK being one.
After work demands had interrupted my daydreaming I then thought about car costs. Specifically the annual costs that we get hit with without the car turning a wheel. For my Aero that is currently as follows; MOT £54.85*, VED £415**, Insurance £250 (ish). Knocking on for 1 month of the pension the Govt deems to throw my way now I'm Old.
I'm now curious about what the "static" costs of owning a 2004 9-5 across Europe are and indeed ICE cars in general. I know we have esteemed members across the globe, so what's the damage to one's wallet?
* Can be done cheaper
**Gone up again
